When marketing the film there are five main areas;
- Cinema trailers (for example playing the trailer before a film)
- TV trailers (playing the trailer within the ad breaks, preferably at times when our target audience would be watching)
- Posters (in shopping centres or in magazine spreads)
- Promotional interviews
- Word of mouth (showing previews and hoping people will enjoy it and tell friends and family)
Although all these methods are effective if we were to use them all this would become extremely costly.
To find out which were the best for our fill I decided to research into what films (mainly thrillers) that were out soon were using to advertise.
One film that I have seen advertised a lot is The Devil Inside. I have seen many trailers both on the tele and posters around college and at the cinema its self.
(One of the many posters)
(The trailer used both on the tele and in the cinema. There are also others that have slight variations)
This was the same as many of the other films that were out at the moment due to this I feel that this would fit our film as well.
The trailer would simply mean taking clips from the film and editing and although this may be expensive to get screen time it wouldn't be too expensive to create or time consuming.
Also the poster would simply consist of a photo shoot and photo-shopping.
